A custom-built motorcycle powered by a Ferrari F355 V8 engine has officially sold for more than half a million dollars, becoming one of the most extreme and expensive custom motorcycles ever created.

Known as the HF355, the machine was developed by Los Angeles-based motorcycle builder Maxwell Hazan and combines handcrafted engineering with the unmistakable sound and performance of a Ferrari supercar.

Ferrari F355 Engine Powers the HF355 Motorcycle

At the heart of the project sits a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V8 engine sourced from a 1999 Ferrari F355. The iconic Ferrari engine, famous for its high-revving character, produces roughly 400 horsepower and can push the motorcycle close to 10,000 rpm.

Unlike conventional motorcycles, the HF355 was designed around the engine itself. Hazan treated the Ferrari powertrain not only as the source of power, but also as a structural component of the motorcycle’s chassis.

Because traditional motorcycle frames are not designed to support an oversized automotive V8, the entire platform had to be engineered from scratch.

Nearly Every Component Was Handcrafted

The project reportedly took around 18 months to complete and features an extraordinary level of custom fabrication.

Hazan designed a bespoke frame structure in which the engine acts as a load-bearing element. The transmission and rear suspension system were integrated directly around the engine to maintain proper balance despite the motorcycle’s significant size and weight.

Almost every visible component was handmade inside Hazan’s workshop, including mechanical hardware, brackets, and structural pieces. Even the bodywork was created using hand-shaped foam molds before being transformed into 16 separate carbon fiber panels using resin infusion techniques.

The motorcycle’s deep red paint finish was also selected as a tribute to Ferrari’s racing heritage.

Hypercar-Level Power-to-Weight Ratio

Despite weighing approximately 265 kilograms (584 pounds) dry, the HF355 delivers an astonishing power-to-weight ratio thanks to its Ferrari-derived V8 engine.

According to reports, the motorcycle is theoretically capable of reaching speeds near 300 km/h (186 mph), placing it firmly in hyperbike territory.

The aggressive engineering philosophy behind the project intentionally avoids modern electronic rider aids. Unlike contemporary superbikes, the HF355 does not include traction control, riding modes, cornering assistance, or electronic stability systems.

That analog approach was reportedly a deliberate decision aimed at preserving a raw and mechanical riding experience.

Premium Racing Components Complete the Build

To handle the massive power output, the HF355 uses high-end racing hardware throughout the chassis.

The motorcycle is equipped with Marchesini wheels, Brembo GP4X brakes, Öhlins FGR front forks, and an Öhlins TTX rear shock setup — components commonly found on elite racing motorcycles.

However, the feature most people continue to talk about is the sound.

According to Hazan, the motorcycle’s Ferrari V8 creates an experience that feels like “warp speed” from a science-fiction movie when pushed to full throttle.

A Rolling Piece of Automotive Art

Beyond its extreme performance, the HF355 is being celebrated as a rolling work of engineering art.

The exposed-engine design places the Ferrari V8 at the visual center of the motorcycle, while the remaining components are built to complement the engine rather than hide it. The result is a machine that blurs the line between motorcycle, sculpture, and high-performance engineering experiment.

With its six-figure sale price and one-of-one status, the HF355 has quickly become one of the most talked-about custom motorcycles in the world.
