Xiaomi Unveils the 990-HP YU7 GT Electric SUV With 705 KM Range
Xiaomi has officially introduced the high-performance YU7 GT, a flagship electric SUV designed to combine supercar-level acceleration with long-range touring capability.
Revealed during the company’s latest launch event, the YU7 GT delivers an astonishing 990 horsepower, a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), and a starting price of approximately $57,300.
The new model positions Xiaomi as an increasingly serious player in the global high-performance EV market.
Xiaomi YU7 GT Delivers Nearly 1,000 Horsepower
At the heart of the Xiaomi YU7 GT is Xiaomi’s self-developed V8s EVO electric motor, capable of spinning up to 28,000 rpm.
The powertrain uses silicon carbide (SiC) technology in its power module, helping the motor achieve a claimed efficiency rating of 98.38%.
The SUV produces a peak output of 738 kW, equivalent to approximately 990 horsepower.
According to Xiaomi, the YU7 GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.92 seconds, placing it firmly in super-SUV territory.
897V Architecture Supports Ultra-Fast Charging
The YU7 GT uses a 101.7 kWh NMC lithium battery pack operating on an advanced 897V electrical architecture.
Thanks to the high-voltage system, the SUV can reportedly add up to 570 km (354 miles) of range in only 15 minutes of charging.
Xiaomi claims the vehicle delivers a total CLTC-rated driving range of 705 km (438 miles).
The ultra-fast charging capability is becoming a key battleground among Chinese EV manufacturers competing in the premium performance segment.
Nürburgring-Tested Chassis Targets Performance Enthusiasts
To support its massive power output, Xiaomi equipped the YU7 GT with what it calls the “Jiaolong Chassis Master Edition,” a suspension and handling package reportedly tested at Germany’s Nürburgring circuit.
The SUV includes:
- Dual-valve CDC adaptive dampers
- Closed dual-chamber air suspension
- Adjustable ride height and stiffness
- Electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD)
The eLSD system can distribute power between the rear wheels within milliseconds to improve stability and cornering performance.
Carbon-Ceramic Brakes and Luxury Interior Included
Xiaomi says the YU7 GT uses carbon-ceramic brakes paired with Akebono brake calipers, allowing the SUV to stop from 100 km/h in just 32.9 meters.
The company also claims the braking system maintains consistent performance during repeated high-speed stops.
Inside, the YU7 GT adopts a luxury-focused cabin featuring:
- 2.3 square meters of Alcantara trim
- Standard massage functions on all four seats
- Smart dimming panoramic roof
- Multi-layer acoustic PVB glass
- 25-speaker premium sound system
- Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
- Dolby Atmos support
The SUV also offers extensive carbon fiber customization options, including a 24-karat gold and carbon-fiber exterior emblem.
Xiaomi Expands Beyond Smartphones Into High-Performance EVs
The YU7 GT represents another major step in Xiaomi’s aggressive expansion into the automotive industry.
Initially known for smartphones and consumer electronics, Xiaomi is now rapidly building a reputation in China’s competitive EV sector by focusing on software integration, ultra-fast charging, advanced performance engineering, and premium in-car technology.
The standard YU7 GT starts at 389,900 yuan ($57,300), while the top-spec “Big Full Pack” version is priced at 429,900 yuan ($63,200).
Xiaomi is also offering a promotional discount on the optional GT Sports Kit, reducing its launch-period price from 34,000 yuan to 14,000 yuan.
With nearly 1,000 horsepower and luxury flagship positioning, the YU7 GT could become one of the most talked-about Chinese performance EVs of the year.
